Haudenosaunee June 30, 2016 – The Iroquois Nationals are proud to announce the Final Roster of 27 players for the 2016 Federation of International Lacrosse’s U-19 World Field Lacrosse Championships. This year Canada serves as FIL’s 2016 Nation host as was the Haudenosaunee Nation in 2015.

The Iroquois Nationals roster includes a perfect balance of collegiate, prep school, and high school athletes representing Native American territories.  These 27 indigenous youth lacrosse players will participate in the Under 19 World Lacrosse Championships held in Coquitlam, British Columbia on July 7 – July 16, 2016.

Emerson Shenandoah and Jade Haumann: 2016 Tewaaraton High School Scholarships Winners

WASHINGTON, May 16, 2016 — The Tewaaraton Foundation press release has announced the recipients of the tenth annual Tewaaraton Native American Scholarships. The 2016 scholarship winners are Jade Haumann, Seneca Nation, Wolf Clan and Emerson Shenandoah of the Mohawk Nation, Snipe Clan. The scholarship honors high school students of Haudenosaunee heritage who exemplify high character, leadership, and academics both on and off the lacrosse field.

The Iroquois Nationals is proud to acknowledge alumni players and staff who participate in the National Lacrosse League. The Rochester Knighthawks have 8 current players and including alumni player, Curt Styres, Rochester Knighthawks Owner and General Manager, and Andy Secore, Assistant Coach. Also the Iroquois Nationals have alumni staff of Jason Johnson, Assistant Coach and Dave Soudan, Equipment Manager for the Hawks.

In a press release of April 21, 2016, the Rochester Knighthawks announced today that they will hold their annual Native American Night on Saturday, April 23rd. It will be a celebration of the Creator’s Game when the Knighthawks host the Buffalo Bandits at 8:00 p.m. at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena.

“When I play, I think of it as more than a game,” said Knighthawks forward Cody Jamieson, an Iroquois Nationals stand out. “I don’t just go out there and think this is just a game of lacrosse. U-19 Open Tryouts to be Held December 19 in Victor, NY

Nya’weh Skano I hope you are all doing well and are getting excited about the next U19 Iroquois Nationals Tryout.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION AS DETAILS HAVE CHANGED. We are holding an OPEN TRYOUT on DEC. 19th from 5pm-8pm at the PINNACLE ATHLETICS CAMPUS in Victor, NY at the conclusion of that practice we will be POSTING A LIST of players that we will be inviting back. We will be holding an INVITATION ONLY Tryout for the players invited back on SUNDAY DEC. 20th from 7am-9am. We have worked out a GROUP RATE DEAL with the MICROTEL HOTEL which is approximately 3 miles away from the facility. We can get you room details as we get closer to the date. You will be on your own to cover room charges, we want to be able to offer you a place to stay at a reasonable rate.

Rochester Knighthawks Lacrosse Club Press Release (November 19, 2015)

(November 19, 2015)… The Rochester Knighthawks announced today that they have invited free agent Ty Thompson to the Training Camp. The forwards will join the Knighthawks on Saturday, Nov. 21st as they open camp at noon at Total Sports Experience in East Rochester.

“It’s an awesome feeling. I am just really excited for this opportunity,” said Thompson. “I grew up watching a lot of Rochester Knighthawks games. It feels pretty good to just have this chance to show my stuff.”

The 24-year-old Thompson will attend his second National Lacrosse League Training Camp after being selected 26th overall by the New England Black Wolves in the 2014 Entry Draft. Thompson, who hails from Akwesasne, had a stellar four-year collegiate career at the University at Albany, posting 154 goals, 41 assists and 195 points. He currently ranks fourth on the school’s all-time goal-scoring list. In his final two seasons with the Great Danes (2013-14), he received back-to-back Division I Honorable Mention All-American and Second Team All-America East honors.

Iroquois Nationals U-19 Open Tryouts

Ithaca, NY October 29 – The Iroquois Nationals Lacrosse Program would like to announce the Open Tryouts dates for the U19 Iroquois Nationals, November 14 & 15th at the Nichols School in Buffalo, NY. Player registration will begin at 10am sharp. Please bring your own equipment along with cleats as we will be on a Field Turf Surface. All high school and college players born between Sept. 1, 1996, and July 6, 2000, are eligible and encouraged to attend.

TORONTO — The National Lacrosse League’s newest fans will get to see the sport’s most celebrated brother act since the Gaits, as the Georgia Swarm selected Lyle Thompson first overall in the 2015 NLL draft Monday night in Toronto.

Thompson, the two-time Tewaaraton Award winner out of Albany, will join his brother, Miles, on the Swarm, who relocated from Minnesota to Georgia in the offseason. He’s only the second player history to go No. 1 in both the MLL and NLL drafts (Kevin Crowley, 2011).

Even after a hard defeat, Rich Kilgour did Sunday what he’d been doing with eloquence, all week.

His Iroquois Nationals lacrosse team had just lost to Team Canada, 12-8, in the finals of the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships at the Carrier Dome. The defeat was especially painfully for the Nationals, because the tournament was hosted for the first time by a native government – the Six Nations, or Haudenosaunee – with most of the games played at the Onondaga Nation.
